About the artist

Photography is a medium of communication. In her new book Listen to the Heartbeat of the Earth Jane uses photography to express her concern for the environment in relation to climate change, overpopulation and depletion of resources. The book received honourable mention in the 2009 Green Book Festival held in Los Angeles, California.

Jane has a background in New Zealand newspaper photography. After leaving New Zealand she spent 17 years at the ski resort of Mammoth Lakes in the Eastern Sierra working as a photographer, writer and later as newspaper/magazine editor. She also worked as a freelance photographer providing photographs to the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, and various magazines - Skiing, Time, book publishers and corporations.

Now living back in New Zealand, in addition to working as a freelance photographer, Jane has established the new publishing company South Pacific Light Press. The Spirit of Taranaki, the first book published by South Pacific Light Press in 2006, is now in its second print run.

Jane is also a contributor to NZ House & Garden, NZPA, and photographs many of the exhibitions and activities at Puke Ariki.
